Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is known as an Indian actress known for her roles in the films Beta Saajan as well as Hum Aapke Hing Koun..! In the late 80s, she started her acting career and was a hit with her role of Tezaab in which she starred alongside famous actor Anil Kapooor. The next film she acted in, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared alongside her. A middle-class family was raised in Mumbai she was able to learn dance at an early age. While she was young She began acting but had a difficult time as a majority of her films were flops. Her fame grew and she became one of India's most prominent film actors. Following her wedding the actress took time away from performing until she returned. Dixit was the main character in Gulaab Gang, a film which explores women's struggles within India. Dixit has been nominated fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she took home eight. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. She is known for her involvement in social work too.
